The Sonoma County Sheriff's Association and the Monterey County Sheriff's Department will square off at the 19th annual Challenge Bowl football game on Saturday, October 18th, 1997 at Sonoma State University.

This fun filled event is a yearly fund raiser for the various community projects supported by the Sheriff's Association and is expected to play before an enthusiastic crod of supporters. Both the Sonoma County "Raiders" and the Monterey County "Mounties" are primed to win.

Former San Francisco Forty Niner Stars will be signing autographs at half-time.

As an added bonus this year our alumni 49ers and a squad of Oakland Raiderette Cheerleaders will be on hand from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm to conduct the Niner Youth Football & Cheerleading Clinic.

Former San Francisco Forty Niner players along with NFL Cheerleaders will be joined by Sonoma County Sheriff's Deputies in this SCSOEA sponsored event. The clinic will demonstrate offensive and defensive techniques, cheerleading drills, motivational speeches and autograph opportunities with the players and cheerleaders. Admission is free and all youth ages 8 - 16 are invited to participate. Spaces are limited and can be obtained by calling 586-3266

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Employees Association is in its 35th year as a nonprofit organization of peace and public safety officers employed by Sonoma County. In its 35 years, the Association has promoted activities designed to provide academic and/or vocational training in order to enhance the individual status and highest professional standards of peace officers in Sonoma County. The Association sponsors and encourages activities leading to improve the morale and contribute to the general welfare of the members and the County they serve, with a focus on the youth of our community.

Some of the beneficiaries of the funds that are raised by the Association include the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Social Advocates for Youth ( SAY ), Sonoma County Project Graduation, Sonoma County Junior Miss, Redwood Childrens Center, Sonoma County Junior Livestock Auction, Pop Warner Football, along with maintaining three scholarships through the Santa Rosa Junior College Administration of Justice Department. The Association also operates its own Survivor's Fund.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Employees Association is run by a volunteer Board of Directors who direct and supervise the organization. Association membership consists of County employees actively involved in providing public safety and law enforcement to residents of Sonoma County. The members are Deputies, Correctional Officers, Investigators, Probation Officers, Youth Supervisors, Dispatchers, and Law Enforcement Management.
