1. At what age do we begin to shape and manifest our life withour thoughts?Did you want me to answer these ??? A significant part of the "entire" "philosophy" ... if that be what it is ... is that these and other questions .... are questions to be answered ... if at all ... by each of us .... we determine how the "self" thinks .... it is also suggested that the answer to "how we think" has an impact on the outcome ... sometimes literally can be sole determinant .... especially when we say No ... No to God ... No to Goals ... No to self ... No ... I don't want to go there ... odds are you won't and you won't discover the practical impact of the kind of positive belief system that says I can have an impact ... on my own behavior ... and yes, even, at least, occasionally, on the behavior of others.
2. If my destiny is shaped by my thoughts, can I influence other people's lives with my own power of thought?
3. Does my power conflict with their power?
4. If not, how is all of this power regulated?
It's a beautiful idea but seems to have some limitation much as the belief in unlimited free will does. It seems true at times and to a point.1. Each of us ... if we choose ... can ask and answer this type of question ... the additional question to be asked might be ... to what end do I ask and answer this question ... to determine in my mind the truth of this philosophy ??? The test of this philosophy is not the discovery of an intellectual answer ... the test is ... what happens to your behavior ... and to the end results you achieve in any activity .... if you picture it as though it were possible for you to perfect it .... what happens ???? at what age does one begin this test ? when one begins it.
2. Again ... the test that counts for you is yours ... for me ... I say YES ... to the extent that I am able to act positively I often have an affect on the behavior of others ... Let me illustrate from experience ...
A long time ago, when I was "testing" these notions for myself ... I became exposed to a couple of concepts ... simple ones, that had to do with "Influencing Others." These concepts essentially said ... talk in terms of their interests ... consider the wants and needs of the other and then act according to contributing to THEIR wants and needs.3) Does your power conflict with the power of others? Does it?I was living in Sacramento at the time, and was keeping, in my apartment, a certain Golden Retriever dog, whom I loved and whom travelled with me everywhere, which was "against the rules of the complex." Long story short, there was an apartment "party" ... everybody would come and there would be a certain amount of interactivity because of these events ... so I put Nina in my car. The next morning ... around 10:00 o'clock ... I noticed an SPCA uniformed type gentleman wandering by the pool. At first I thought ... what would he be doing here, and then I thought of Nina. Could it be that he was here because of her. I went outside and asked if I could be of help ... and he described that someone had called the SPCA and reported a dog in a car in front of our building. I thought to myself ... Oh my ... aren't people wonderful and considerate ... of dogs. ( I will not mention the positive thoughts that might have come to mind ... that's the point) ... How kind and considerate of them to call and "report" my dog to "the cops." When I arrived at the car there was a "gang" on the lawn next to Nina. They were shouting and screaming something or another ... about 7 of them. I told them they ought to FUCK OFF and mind their own business. Their screaming increased.
Later, I thought, you know if I had been possessed with at least a couple of positive thoughts in this situation ... I might have even made a friend.
"Thank you for your consideration," I could have said. I really appreciate your being concerned about Nina. Actually she's got water in the car, and the window is open a crack ... and I was just about ready to bring her in. But ... really ... I really appreciate your having shown such concern."
Do YOU think their reaction would have been different?
I thought so at the time.
Later, in Los Angeles, I would come across another of those "human relations" situations. At the time, I was the Sales Manager for a tow truck company. We had recently opened a Southern California office, and were in the process of transporting four tow trucks from Los Angeles to San Diego ... you know ... one one-ton tow truck towing another ... myself and a friend. We stopped for gas at a gas station right off the freeway ... and ... after filling my truck I looked up to what appeared to be tow truck salesperson's heaven. Four shiney new gas stations .. one on each corner ... including the one we were at. I decided, then and there, that I would walk across the street to each one, and deliver one of our fliers.
So ... here I am, dressed in suit and tie, walking across an Expressway somewhere in Southern Los Angeles.
As I got just barely across mid street, I looked up and saw a motorcycle cop with his blinking red lights on, waving me over to the side. As I approached his "bike" I couldn't help but think, " You gotta be kidding me. Here I am in the middle of the crime capital of the world ... and this guy is pullling me over .... for JAYWALKING ???
Sure enough. This particular officer was "chrome." I mean he looked like every television show you ever saw with the "Hollywood Cop" on a motorcyle. You could see the street lights change colors in this guys shoes, and his sunglasses, and his badge. He "shown." As he proceeded to describe to me what he was about to do .... write me a ticket ... I thought of the incident in Sacramento. At least, this time, I could "test" this hypothesis that talking in terms of the other guys interest would do ME any good.
"You know, officer, I want to thank you for having stopped me today. Here I am, dressed up like a businessman, running across the street like this is really the way ... when, for all I know, some nine year old might be peering out of the window of their car ... see me, and think this was the way to do things. Unbeknownced to me, that same child, might someday repeat my behavior, and get killed."
The guy kept writing ... I thought ... mmmm ... so much for that notion.
I'm not sure that I wouldn't have just "felt" better anyway, but I'll never know. The officer finished writing the ticket, handed it to me, and then reached for those sunglasses of his.
"You know Mr. Kennedy, I want to thank you. I don't know if you know anything about what it's like to be a police officer. 25 times a day," he says, " I stop somebody for doing something I just saw them do. Whether it's running a stop sign, speeding, driving wrecklessly, whatever it is, I just saw them do it .... AND YET .... 99 times out of a 100 they deny it and blame me. Sometimes they can get downright rude. Lately, I've been thinking about quitting the police force, and then someone like you comes along. Someone who seems to have just a little appreciation for the why's and wherefore's of what I do all day long. It helps make it all worthwhile. Incidentally, the ticket I just wrote you shows an appearance date of April the 15th. I'm going to be on vacation on that date and won't therefore be available to testify. If you appear in court, and plead not guilty, they'll be forced to dismiss it."
I never did appear on that ticket. It was much easier to send in the $7.00 and pay the fine. But ... I did learn something ... that my behavior could have an impact on the lives and behaviors of others ... and was the beginning of my belief that so could yours.
4) How is all of this power regulated? So ... now you want to talk politics. If you're asking How Would The World Run If It Ran On Principles of Good Human Relations, please let me save that for another EMail.
The last part of your statement appears to be a statement of fact. This works, perhaps, to a point. Amen.
For me, that is the test. The test of my life, and perhaps others as well. How well does this work? How far, how high, how fast, how well, can I grow?
Ultimately it comes back to one of my favorite "punch lines." As the old man said to the two young children, when they asked if the bird were alive or dead? It's in your hands !!!

You should be congratulated because we too infrequently get such negative responses ... and seldom, if ever, such a strongly worded one. You are indeed a person with the strength of your convictions.
A part of your comment reminds me of a television show once, where a "book reviewer" was asked his opinion of Gore Vidal's new book. He said he couldn't stand it !!! When asked if he had read it ... he said, "No ... he was totally uncorrupted by the text."
Perhaps ... if you would look further you would find something with which you might approve ... YOUR God Experience ... YOUR Love Experience ... Success and How To Achieve It ... Everyone has influence in Public Radio, you should know that. :-) I'll see what I can do. There is a programme coming up Tuesday, "On the Edge and Centered", which is concentrating on Local Internet Access. However, if you phone the station, 707-585-6284, and ask for Sharon Bard's phone number, explaining who you are and what you do, then she may well, it's not my decision, include you in that programme.Give it a try laddie.

WOW !!! Not too shabby yourself. (KRCB ... More Than Just A Test ... We Hope)VERY COMPLETE !!! I especially like the "liberal" use of HREF's to other sites, other programs, other artists, etc. etc. I even enjoyed listening to the National News on Real Audio ... while making breakfast this a.m. Gives US that "where have we been feeling" ... AGAIN. There's a great deal for others to learn about KRCB and your own Web Design talents. Guess that's what we're here for ???
Recommendation: This is an excellent visit for Web Meisters and potential Web Meisters around the WWW. This is what can be done ... how it can be done, and a helpful encouragement for those who have not yet filled in the blanks on their own "hrefs."
